About Katherine Zecca

Previously a staff artist for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, certainly has the credentials for such a works of nonfiction. In her new career as a freelance illustrator, she has created artwork for publishers such as Down East, Dawn Publications and Sylvan Dell as well as organizations such as the Smithsonian Institution, the National Zoological Park, the Alaska Fisheries Science Center, the Marine Mammal Protection Bulletin, and the National Marine Mammal Laboratory.

Her goal in writing and illustrating children’s books is to entertain her young readers while at the same time providing scientifically accurate information. Ultimately, she would like to instill in them a sense of awe about the world we live in.
